NBC urges Americans to ‘forgo Turkey’ to deal with Biden inflation

NBC News is the latest corporate media outlet to place the onus on U.S. buyers to deal with skyrocketing inflation, recommending families “forgo the turkey” during their Thanksgiving celebrations this week.

NBC News seems to suggest that the reason for dropping such a staple at the holiday table is because of rising ingredient and food prices in the United States due to inflation. This is evidenced by a recent Farm Bureau survey which found that the cost of Thanksgiving dinner increased 14 percent from last year.

Instead of examining why the cost of a Thanksgiving meal is so much higher under the Biden administration compared to previous years, NBC News’ Vicky Nguyen implored consumers to sacrifice a key edible item of the special holiday to join. both ends.

“Maybe forgo the turkey… I know it’s the staple of the Thanksgiving meal, however, some people think turkey is overrated and therefore tends to be the most expensive thing on. Table. Maybe you’re having an Italian feast instead, ”Nguyen suggested on air a few days before the holidays.

“If you tell everyone you’re having Thanksgiving without a turkey, some guests may drop off the list and that’s a way to cut costs as well,” she added.

A day before Nguyen’s muffled exhortations, a CBS News poll found that 67% of Americans disapprove of President Joe Biden’s handling of inflation.

Meanwhile, Biden and the White House continue to play down their role in raising prices.

“America is the only major economy – the only one in the world – where the economy is bigger today, and families have more money in their pockets today than before the pandemic. That’s even after accounting for inflation, ”Biden said Monday.

This narrative was easily adopted by other corporate media such as Vox and The Atlantic which last month published articles demanding that Americans stop shopping in an effort to absolve Biden and his administration of responsibility for the supply chain crisis in the country.
